Dr. Aftab Poshni, MD (Psychiatrist)

After finishing medical school (Dow Medical College), I completed my psychiatric training in 1992 from the Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan’s Residency Training Program. Subsequently, I worked as a psychiatrist for a short time in a community mental health center and hospital in Owensboro, Kentucky. Since 1995, I have been working with Horizons Behavioral Health. In the past, I also worked for many years at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital in Hoffman Estates as well as Centegra Hospital in Woodstock, and currently I do psychiatric consults at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.

I initially got my board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in 1997 and then again got my re-certification from ABPN in 2007. Currently I am board certified in psychiatry through the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons since 2017.

My above qualifications and experience make me well-suited to handle patients with both routine and complex psychiatric illnesses. I am a general psychiatrist and see adults and adolescents.
